Storico Carnevale di Ivrea

One of the most important italian tradition

The “Battle of the Oranges,” is a unique event where participants are divided into teams and throw oranges at each other, reenacting the popular uprising against a medieval tyrant. This carnival celebrates freedom and tradition with parades, historical costumes, and lively community participation. The event has roots in medieval traditions and attracts thousands of visitors each year.

A key feature of the battle is the presence of the “carri da getto” or throwing carts. These carts are central to the event, each one being a mobile fortress carrying a team of orange throwers dressed in protective gear.

Each cart in the Battle of the Oranges is a unique work of art, meticulously hand-painted with intricate designs and vibrant colors. I have had the privilege of painting many of these carts, dedicating countless hours to ensure they stand out during the festivities. My efforts have been recognized with several awards, highlighting the creativity and craftsmanship involved. These accolades reflect the passion and dedication I bring to this historic event, contributing to the rich traditions of the Carnival of Ivrea.
